The GIPC has been working on some new initiatives in the first quarter of 2020 and will be holding our Q1 update on Monday, April 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PST, led by Don Elario, committee members and the SME (Subject Matter Expert) resource pool members. We encourage ECIA members and non-members to join us, learn what’s being worked on and submit your ideas and suggestions.

First up will be Dale Ford, ECIA Chief Analyst who will provide a valuable update on the Coronavirus and then David Loftus, ECIA President and CEO will introduce himself and share some highlights on what ECIA is working on.

We will then cover the following topics:

(1)   The joint project with ADI and Mouser Electronics, which is to develop a paperless process for handling manufacturer COC’s is in its final stages with IT and moving to testing in April.

(2)   The GIPC is currently engaged with the manufacturing council on a scoping document for a Design Registration project. We are working with Robert V. Kirch, VP of Global Distribution Sales, Vishay Intertechnology, who is the current leader of the council and ECIA board member.

(3)   There was a Channel Channel podcast with Christophe Beque from IBM released on February 17th, where we discuss some blockchain solutions already in operation and follow up on the workshop held in NYC last June.

(4)   The Trust Bridge is a new service partner with ECIA and we are looking into the possibility of a virtual workshop to cover various topics in the areas of privacy and data security.

(5)   We are also working with Compliance & Risk to explore the possibility of a virtual workshop to cover critical environmental and regulatory compliance trends in the electronics industry.

(6)   Lastly, we are continuing to sign up additional SME’s and will talk about how the new resource pool works and why you should have your colleagues join the program. If you have an interest or want more information, please contact Don Elario at [email protected] .
