The Industry Mourns the Loss of a Leader

ECIA joins in mourning the loss of a true industry leader, James R. Kaplan. 

In 1961, James joined Cornell Dubilier Electronics as a field engineer in Los Angeles. After advancing through the organization, Jim became president in 1978. Over the years the company has expanded and is now a leader in the provider of capacitors. James was active in the electronics industry and ECIA specifically, receiving the industry's honor in 2015, the Gail S. Carter Lifetime Achievement award. Read more. 


ECIA Research and Analysis

ECIA offers its members insight into the industry and a variety of market trends information. Members can log into the website and visit the Stats & Insights page to access an increasing number of statistical reports. Some are available to the public, some to members and others are only accessible to those who participate in the survey.

ECIA Announces New Leadership on Councils

ECIA has three councils reporting directly to the Board of Directors. The Distributor, Manufacturer and Manufacturers Reps Councils are made up of 12 members and have oversight responsibility for their specific priorities and agenda items. The council meetings are a forum for the groups to discuss their individual constituent needs and issues. See below for new leadership.

  • ECIA appoints Karim Yasmine as Chair of Distributor Council. Karim will lead this member forum that reports to board of directors. Read the full press release.
  • Julia Zibrida joins ECIA Manufacturers’ Council. This group is one of three ECIA constituent councils that along with the Distributor and Manufacturers’ Representative Councils provides oversight responsibility for that group’s specific priorities and agenda items. Read the full press release.
  • ECIA welcomes Mike Slater to Distributors’ Council. This group is one of three councils providing oversight responsibility for that group’s specific priorities and agenda items. Read the full press release.
