ECIA Welcomes John Barrington to Global Industry Practices Committee (GIPC)

ATLANTA – ECIA is pleased to announce that John Barrington has joined the GIPC. John Barrington is the VP of Marketing for Powell Electronics. He has worked in the electronics industry for close to 40 years. Today Powell is 76 years young, and its focus is on harsh environment interconnect and electromechanical components.

“John will be a valuable addition to our GIPC team, and I’m really looking forward to working with him,” commented ECIA’s VP of Industry Practices Don Elario. “John’s current role at Powell is to build, lead and mentor a group of professionals who have a passion for growth, not only for Powell, but the industry as well. He brings these skills and experiences to the GIPC; they will be invaluable, as our mission on this Committee is to advocate within the industry for measures that will streamline and strengthen the electronic components channel.”

John holds an undergraduate degree from Dickinson College and an MBA from Drexel University

The Global Industry Practices Committee (GIPC) provides a forum to discuss processes in the authorized channel that drive best practices within our industry. The GIPC members on this committee work to identify common global problems and issues, formally organize with Subject Matter Experts to research the issues, provide guidance and areas for consideration, and then help drive adoption with the ECIA Board of Directors and Councils. This activity results in the construction of guidelines, specifications, position papers and best practice documents for the electronic components authorized channel. The Committee is made up of executives from three Distributors, three Manufacturers, one Manufacturer’s Representative and two ECIA representatives.
