Faces of ECIA – Joshua Nix

What is your involvement with ECIA and what have you gained from your engagement with the association? I have been a member of ECIA through my role at Mouser for several years, but I recently joined the speaker vetting committee for the ECIA Executive Conference. With it being my first time on this committee, I have gained insight on the work it takes in the background to make events like the Executive Conference happen. I have also made connections with other leaders within the electronics industry that provide a broad perspective of the challenges and opportunities that we all face.

What does your company do and what is your role in your company? Mouser Electronics is an electronic component distribution company that specializes in the rapid introduction of the newest products and technologies from our authorized manufacturers, supporting the newest designs as-well-as the manufacturing supply chain. My role at Mouser is Supplier Management Director. I have responsibility for multiple technologies and product segments and drive the engagement, strategy and relationships with my suppliers to support the goal of Mouser stated above.

What is your favorite thing about this industry? My favorite thing about this industry is the people and knowing that what I do allows design engineers and customers to develop and prototype the technologies that are going to shape the future of the world we all live in.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work? Outside of work, I am first and foremost a husband and father and spend most of my time watching my boys compete in their respective sports (football/soccer) and traveling with my wife. Prior to Mouser, I was a singer-songwriter and I still do a few gigs a year and enjoy playing music when I can.

What is the best piece of career advice you've ever received? Be someone that people can trust and don’t ever do anything to jeopardize that trust once it’s earned.
