The GIPC has been working on some new initiatives in the first quarter of 2020 and will be holding our Q1 update on Monday, April 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PST, led by Don Elario, co mmittee members and the SME (Subject Matter Expert) resource pool members. We encourage ECIA members and non-members to join us, learn what’s being wo rked on and submit your ideas and suggestions.
First up will be Dale Ford, ECIA Chief Analyst who will provide a valuable update on the Coronavi rus and then David Loftus, ECIA President and CEO will introduce himself an d share some highlights on what ECIA is working on.
We will then cove r the following topics:
(1) The joint project with ADI and Mouser E lectronics, which is to develop a paperless process for handling manufactur er COC’s is in its final stages with IT and moving to testing in April.
(2) The GIPC is currently engaged with the manufacturing council on a scoping document for a Design Registration project. We are working with Rob ert V. Kirch, VP of Global Distribution Sales, Vishay Intertechnology, who is the current leader of the council and ECIA board member.
(3) The re was a Channel Channel podcast with Christophe Beque from IBM released on February 17th, where we discuss some blockchain solutions alrea dy in operation and follow up on the workshop held in NYC last June.
(4) The Trust Bridge is a new service partner with ECIA and we are lookin g into the possibility of a virtual workshop to cover various topics in the areas of privacy and data security.
(5) We are also working with C ompliance & Risk to explore the possibility of a virtual workshop to co ver critical environmental and regulatory compliance trends in the electron ics industry.
(6) Lastly, we are continuing to sign up additional S ME’s and will talk about how the new resource pool works and why you should have your colleagues join the program. If you have an interest or want mor e information, please contact Don Elario at delario@ecianow.org .
