The Faces of ECIA

March 2026 Highlight - Laura Miceli, Sensata Technologies

What is your involvement with ECIA and what have you gained from your engagement with the association?
I started getting more involved with ECIA both for my own professional development and to represent Sensata Technologies within the association. I believe ECIA plays an incredibly important role in our industry, and I truly value the collaboration and sharing of best practices that it fosters.

Last year was my first time attending the Executive Conference and I volunteered on the Sponsorship Subcommittee.  I will be supporting those efforts again this year and look forward to a successful 2026 Executive Conference.  The entire community was incredibly welcoming and it was truly rewarding to contribute to the success of the event by helping secure sponsorships.

Through ECIA I also became aware of the Manufacturers’ General Interest Council, which immediately caught my attention. While I am not a formal member of the council, they graciously allow me to participate in discussions around topics and challenges that impact manufacturers. It has been an excellent opportunity to collaborate with peers and industry leaders while sharing perspectives and ideas that help move our industry forward.

What does your company do and what is your role in your company?
Sensata Technologies is one of the world’s leading suppliers of sensing, electrical protection, control, and power management solutions. Our products help improve safety, efficiency, and comfort for millions of people every day across a wide range of applications, including automotive, appliances, aircraft, industrial equipment, military systems, heavy vehicles, HVAC, data and telecommunications, recreational vehicles, and marine markets.

I have the absolute pleasure of leading our Distribution Sales for Sensata’s Industrial Business Unit in North America. My role is centered on relationship-driven channel leadership. I’m fortunate to work with an exceptional team of Channel Account Managers who support our distribution partners day to day.

Together we work closely with our authorized distributors to ensure they are equipped to support our focused vertical markets and understand the value of the products and solutions we bring to customers. Our work spans sales growth, inventory and asset management, operational alignment, co-op marketing initiatives, and training at the corporate level and in collaboration with our manufacturers’ representative partners regionally with distribution.

What is your favorite thing about this industry?
Without a doubt, it’s the people and the relationships.

I was fortunate enough to fall into this industry right out of college.  It was an industry I didn’t even know existed at the time. Landing in distribution management was even more serendipitous because it’s a role that truly makes my heart sing.

We really do have an incredible ecosystem of distributors, manufacturers, representatives, and customers. I love helping distributors become champions of our product lines and supporting customers as they solve real-world problems. I also genuinely enjoy collaborating with peers across the industry and even friendly competitors.

Over the years I’ve built a wide network of people who are not just colleagues, but friends. Beyond the relationships, I also appreciate that our industry quietly powers so much of everyday life. The technologies we support help make the world function, yet most people never stop to think about the components behind it.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

I truly enjoy living life and experiencing as much of it as possible. I love early mornings, especially when they involve getting outside with my dog.  After moving away 10-years ago, I finally returned home to Connecticut, so I’m making up for some lost time with family and friends.

Music is always part of my day. I’m a big fan of electronic dance music, house music and deep house, but I really enjoy a wide range of genres depending on the mood. Cooking is a huge passion of mine and a form of art for me, especially cooking for and entertaining others. I also enjoy learning about food, nutrition, and holistic health and wellness.

I love being outdoors and staying active, whether that’s golfing, SUP-ing, hiking, exploring new places, or simply enjoying a great sunrise or sunset. I also appreciate exceptional wine and a really great cup of black coffee.

Traveling and discovering great restaurants is another favorite pastime. I’m definitely a foodie at heart and a huge animal lover. Life has been busy lately, but this is a good reminder for me to continue making time to enjoy it fully.

Are you currently binging any shows on Netflix, Hulu, etc.?
Right now I’m completely hooked on HBO Max’s Industry. It’s high-performance culture on steroids. The show captures the intensity of ambition, the pressure to perform, and the fine line between brilliance and burnout. It portrays people who care deeply about what they do, often at a personal cost, and it feels emotionally raw rather than corporate-sanitized. I just can’t get enough of it.

Before that, I was watching the latest season of Landman and Stranger Things. My Gen X side really loved the 1980s nostalgia, the music, the storytelling, and the perfect throwback vibe.
