June 2025 Highlight - Michael McCaig, Luscombe Engineering
What is your involvement with ECIA and what have you gained from your engagement with the association?
I currently serve on the core committee for ECIA’s Executive Conference, where we help shape the content and direction of our flagship event taking place in Chicago at the end of October. ECIA has been instrumental in fostering collaboration across the channel—manufacturers, distributors, and representatives—and providing a forum where we can address shared challenges and opportunities. Through ECIA, I’ve built lasting relationships and gained valuable insights into market trends and best practices.
What does your company do and what is your role in your company?
Luscombe Engineering is one of the largest manufacturer’s representative firms serving the western United States. We specialize in interconnect, passive, electromechanical, power, thermal, and sensing components, working closely with our customers to bring innovative technologies into real-world applications. As Vice President and General Manager, my role involves overseeing our sales organization, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring we continue to deliver value across the entire supply chain.
What is your favorite thing about this industry?
My favorite thing about this industry is the relationships that have been built and continue to evolve and strengthen over the years. The partnerships, collaboration, and trust that develop across Manufacturers, Distributors, Reps, and Customers are truly unique. It’s also incredibly rewarding to see the components we help promote come to life in products that impact our everyday lives—from medical devices and electric vehicles to smart homes and defense applications. Knowing that our suppliers' technologies are foundational to these innovations is something to take great pride in.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
When I’m not watching our son’s baseball or soccer on the weekends or trying to hit as many rides as we can at Disneyland, I’m an avid golfer and love chasing the ever-elusive perfect round.
Are you currently binging any shows on Netflix, Hulu etc.?
My wife and I recently wrapped up the first season of The Pitt, highly recommend! Now we are finishing up the latest season of Andor and looking forward to House of the Dragon when it returns.
