Mark Larson, Digi-Key Corporation’s president and chief operating officer received his B.S in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota. When he assumed management of Digi-Key in 1976 the business had only 14 employees and annual sales of just $800,000. Annual sales have grown to over $1.5 billion with more than 2,800 employees. Larson effectively leveraged technology and has clearly “Redefined Distribution” of electronic components. More than 80 percent of Digi-Key sales are derived from the Internet. Export sales represent more than 40% of Digi-Key’s total sales. And Digi-Key is now the sixth largest electronic component distributor in the world and growing rapidly. Larson was recently named to Northwest Minnesota’s IDEA Hall of Fame and serves on the Electronic Component Industry Association (ECIA) board.
